EDIT: Whoops, somehow lost Knick's outlines, and I had Edwina's old eyes
Knick's Adventure Mega Boss Mix <------------------------------------------------------------> Full version: [link] : <------------------------------------------------------------> Major Mainstream Boss #11:
Background: King Ishfraedalte and the entire Ishfalec Kingdom's denizens parished long ago, and only their haunting spirits are left. Suddenly, the entire castle of Castle Ishfalec became dangerous, as its inhabitants - including King Ishfraedalte - all turned into horrific creatures.
Notes: >> 10 Layers >> "Ish" - in my one of my own mythos' language - is a prefix that means "dead". Ishfraedalte is a common name between my projects that associates a king - usually an Undead king. >> This particular design originated from one of the last attempts of my project, "RPM". >> In case you havent heard me talk about it before, Castle Ishfalec is supposed to be SCARY - like... super-creepy-hauntingly scary.

I actually have an idea of what that would be like. I think I played a game with a boss who could do that sort of thing once, but I forget what it was...but yeah, if I recall correctly he has a really mean habit of appearing out of no where right behind you and attacking before vanishing again.
So in the case of our king here, would you be able to turn the tables on him by turning on the lights or something?
If that element were played with I imagine he might be shocked by the light or something for a few seconds before blowing it out. Assuming it's a torch/candle/somesuch. And now I'm remembering a boss in warioland 3 where you fall into a room with a ghost of some sort who chases you down. To win you had to dodge it as best you could and reach the four corners of the room where there were ghostly skulls covering candles and knock them off until the light made him vanish. Dunno why, that's not even the concept I was talking about earlier.
The only way to defeat or redeem a vengeful spirit is to help them fulfill their unfinished business, so they can move on to the next plane. You would have to find the "anchors" that holds the king in his castle. Destroy or fix the "anchors", and he will be put to rest.
Although his story (spoiler free) is that he made a 'terrible mistake', which caused his entire kingdom to be at distress and unable to pass on, and the star piece turned his dispair into rage.
I love how his only light is that tiny torch. I have a feeling that if the place is actually only lit by that, this would be a tough level to find secrets in.

I don't know if this will help.

But I can do something with that
