<3 Mockups <3

FH plays like a basic horizontal Shoot-em-up - except that there's gravity (albeit that Grape flies), so it's also kinda like a platformer, but there's very minimal platforming. Everyone but Grape can also bounce on certain enemies to inflict damage and reach higher up.

The camera (almost always) auto-scrolls, but you can still move left and right to adjust your position on the screen. Your character will run when on the ground. This is mostly an aesthetic thing, and the only affect it has is obstacles that will appear on an occasional basis (like the barricade shown).

While moving around, each character has unique movesets that generally fall around 4 buttons (WASD keys at default). Melon's attacks, for example are:
Vertical Spin Slash
Forward Slash
Forward Dash
Horizontal Spin Slash

And then probably a special-type attack.
I'm also thinking of adding upgrades to improve your attacks... but Lime's punch-kick-and-grab fighting style makes it difficult to implement that into her.

Most moves use up Energy (represented by the EN bar in the bottom-left). When the player is hit, their armor breaks off, and they have one more hit left before they loose a life (forgot to add a Life counter). Their AR meter will charge back up over time and restore their armor.

The backgrounds will be parallax and some elements randomly generated (like the grass tufts).

The size of the image is the approximate size I'll go for with the actual Flash Player. I happen to like my flash games with larger screens.

I might make more mockups.

BTW, this is a preview of Stage 1: "Ravaging Field, Crazed Warfare"

Someone else pointed that out, too. It's only pure coincidence.

Yeah, but I wasn't familiar with Tatanga (never played Mario Land 1) before the resemblance was first pointed out to me.
