Upped the details and got this off my chest quickly.
This game is quite a ball of fun to work on; what with all the zany concepts and themes. There was a lot of research to find what fruits fit the Ranger and Acrobat girls - especially since I'm really picky about what to use (nothing with "fruit" or "berry" in it, and nothing mainstream, like Strawberry).
I'm especially proud of Melon's design - the balance of red and green without it clashing or looking like Christmas barf, and the application of watermelon seeds.
Pineapple and Lime were the most difficult to design, because I don't tread around the Ranger/Rogue-like classes too often, but I'm satisfied with their outcomes.
I'd also like to say that this game will be 2D - but I intend to keep as much of the detail here as possible.
Here's what I do: Do research! Use Google Images or DA to search for inspiration. If you see something you like, save it to a "references" folder. I currently have an outfit reference folder that has 185 images - but I've had (accidentally deleted) folders like this for years.
Heck, do this for just about anything design-related.
haha, I actually do have clothes reference folder with bazillion official art of different game and anime characters. I guess I just need to start practicing!
This is relevant to my interests... [link]
I need to improve my own clothes designing, any advice from a pro?
